Saving Water

*Using the shower rather tan the bath can save 7,300 litres of water a year.

*Wet body under shower than turn water off whilst soaping or using gel then back on again to rinse

*Never leave the tap running while cleaning your teeth or shaving you can waste 5 litres of water a minute

*Don’t wash fruit or veg under a running tap. Use a bowl, and then use to water plants afterwards.

*Don’t wash dishes under running water. Use a clean wet cloth rinse plates.

*Only use the washing machine or dishwasher when completely full.

*Don’t use running water to thaw meat of other frozen foods. Defrost food overnight in the refrigerator or by using the defrost setting on your microwave.

*Don’t throw old cooking oil down the sink. Dispose of waste oil at recycle plants, or soaked up with old newspaper and thrown in the rubbish

* Repair any dripping taps. Ten drops of water a minute can result in 2,000 litres lost water a year.

*Water the garden in the evening to minimize evaporation.

*Install a water butt to gather rainwater.
