Subject: my experience as a self sponsored volunteer in Nigeria

Message: While I waited for my flight back to London on Wednesday the 26th I met a friend and colleague who suggested I write to you and tell you about why I visit Nigeria every year and what I do with some friends .I work with Grace Project International a US based charity that visits Nigeria every year since 2006.The yearly visits is to run free medical clinics in rural areas in Nigeria. We provide free ,dental, optician, and medical treatment. All volunteers from the US and UK are all self sponsored that simply means we pay for our tickets our self and use our own leave time. This year was more challenging than most because of transport and a lack of medical volunteers. My friend mentioned your name and some others whom he advised me to contact as you may be able to give this project more exposure and recogniti! on.I believe what others say that the work we are doing deserves exposure and recognition because it may get us more medical volunteers to work with .More volunteers mean we can treat and help more people and maybe just maybe it will also get us someone who can provide a bus to use for the duration of yearly .Could you help ?

Subject: MARRIED WOMEN COMPETE WITH SINGLE WOMEN FOR BACHELORS

Message: It is so obvious in this issue that some men are really so bastard when they find their wives have partners of the same sex.God has created man and woman to love and respect each other.

I do not like being possessive when I see my wife having sex in our bed with another man.I guess every man likes his wife to see with a boy or a man who is sensible, sensitive, struggler, clean and must be good looking depressive guy.
The one who loves children, respect people ,have eastern values and have no intentions about women sexuality.
The one who wants to study hard and wants to do something for the country and the poor people. The one who keeps high values.Remember Fun has no limits but time does.
Now the Question arises that why would I offer my wife to such kind of person ?
I want to lighten his burden and I want him to focus on his aim and objectives because it is the matter of future of country, development and peace.I will also want him to realize that why he offers me his wife so openly.

It is not so necessary for single men to have relationship with single women.Often it is not requirement of the body to have feelings about single woman .TY.

Message: The realities which sets us black men apart is evident daily. The romanticism which be falls us of the western dream has and will always be an encumber for us black men. We need to regain clearly for our selves a strong reality of self discovery, self discipline, self acceptance and accountability to our selves FIRST, before anyone. Life expectation is simple, which is " Stay alive" does that mean to assimilate into the masses NO, it means to act upon it as a tool of Discovery. How do we deal with racial hate and self hate? How do we work with one another and not against one another? And, to what do we place value? A large question with a very clear answers. But, are we asking these questions as an individual or a collective? With no Unity their is no strength. until we come to this simple! equation of social math we as a race and a people will only get as far as to the next horrific racial tragedy.

Message: Hello Felly, I am an indigen of Ekpoma. I stopped being a teenager about 2 years ago. And i must say...I know what you are going through, cos as teenagers, we are bound to make some silly mistakes. One thing is the deed has been done and another thing is letting it go. I mean leave with it without guilt cos "If you had known better, you would have done better." So do not blame yourself for not knowing!

Subject: The Art Beat of Benin

Message: Hello Patience,

I hope this email meets you well.

I enjoyed reading your essay on the bronze casters of Benin Kingdom. It would be great if we can rework the essay for a new audience: readers of Ayaka Online Magazine (www.ayakaonline.com)
---------------------------------------
Art
Carving History: Benin Bronze Casters

Synopsis
For decades, they have carved bronze for different Obas of Benin. Their skills have been honed to produce some of the finest works of bronze, wood, and other mediums. The workspace has been depicted a UNESCO World Heritage Site but these masters remain nameless to Nigerians. Even the avid art collectors.

Popular lore has it that the bronze casters belong to a secret guild that has remained impervious to the uninitiated. It is also said that all members of this Guild are descendents of Chief Inneh. Who is this man? How did he come to occupy this exalted position? Who are these nameless master smiths? What inspires their art? How have they succeeded to retain the mystic around their work despite the many years of assault by Christianity and other religions?
---------------------------------------

Please permit me to introduce Ayaka. AYAKA - Culture | Politics | Life (www.ayakaonline.com) is a contemporary quarterly online magazine that will be a primary source of engaging articles about Nigeria and global issues from the Nigerian perspective. Its goal is to be an authentic voice and to embody the spirit of Nigeria while addressing topics and events as they affect Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora. From business to fashion, current affairs to entertainment, technology to the environment, Ayaka magazine is positioning itself to be a literary catalyst that promotes and stimulates a discourse and awareness about Nigeria. Its diverse selection of writers and journalists as well as freelance contributors from all over the world will incorporate personal experiences, views and insight on the “Nigerian” condition.

Ayaka will be an avenue for commentary and dialogue on human-interest articles and editorials that will connect readers to the Nigerian pulse. It will serve as a vehicle for established and aspiring writers, journalists, analysts, laymen, artists, and activists by offering them the forum to exercise, contribute, and share their views while highlighting Nigeria’s most engaging personalities, social issues, events and controversial topics.

Ayaka covers CULTURE (literature, art, poetry, music, travel, theatre, film, photography, cuisine, etc.), POLITICS (foreign affairs, governance, development, etc.) and LIFE (the environment, finance, business, technology, sports, health, science, etc). Its target audience is the Nigerian who is interested in keeping abreast of topics and events pertaining to Nigeria. The writing and graphics will be of high standard, creative, dynamic and engaging for all its readers.

Ayaka was launched on March 15th, 2010. A core benefit of contributing on this platform is the opportunity to interact with a group of Nigerians interested in critical analysis of the challenges facing Nigeria as it walks its way through this development maze. We will be thrilled to have you participate in this exciting publication and look forward to your favorable response.

I earnestly look forward to your response. I hope you will decide to join our growing team of dedicated contributors. If yes, you will receive guidelines and next steps in a separate email.

Sincere regards,

Patrick Okigbo

Subject: Edward Nyanin

Message: A very touching and thoughtful recap of your life. I am very thankful of what you had to share. Yes, it is very true of what u see in this country with regards to how black men are percieved and treated. I have also seen what you see and i am constantly trying everyday not to fall into what society expects of me.

I am about your age, 34 top be exact. Grew up the east end too, Manor Park. Where Asians own all the shops, supermarkets etc. Friends scatterd North and South. Some dead, others in dead end jobs. I had to keep my wits about me, get myself an education. A degree in Computing Science, worked for a bank, got redundant, got a job as a techinican for a college....but, i always had a plan. Not to really work for anyone but myself. Saved, stopped hanging with friends, became less interested in chasing girls, clubbing. Because i could see the trap coming. Read books on finance, than more and more. Went to seminars, and finally when i had saved enough...reduced my hours to trade stock. And i have not stopped since. Yes i have made money and lost but i want my freedom so bad that i continue to learn and hopefully one day i can be free from the rat race.

It is up to black men themselves to understand what is up against them and find a different way to liberate themselves, other than crime. Work hard, save don't squander, do not buy into a system that oppresses u or dumbs u down. Self educate, learn to to invest, day trade etc, become a master of finance, invest in Africa. Or get good at something, anything and bring those skills back home and get out of this blasted country. Remember we all have brains, we just need to tap into that gray matter and use it properly.

I hope these are words of encouragement...please do not give up! Because i definately aint...
