Osas Ighodaro

Born and raised in the home of the New York Yankees, Osas Ighodaro is a Bronx Native. She hails from an entire Nigerian-born family. While proud of their strong heritage, Osas and her loved ones are equally proud that she is a part of her family's first American - born generation. As a Nigerian-American, Osas strongly values the importance of family,
dignity, being of service to humanity, and maintaining a connection to her roots.Osas graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Broadcast Journalism and dual minor degrees in Entrepreneurship and Theatre. She then continued on to earn a Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Acting from the Actor's Studio Drama School at Pace University.

She has appeared in theatre productions that include, The Colored Museum, Revenge of the King, and at present plays the role of Malady in the Audelco Award winning Off-Broadway play Platanos & Collard Greens. Osas has performed in films & TV shows which include, Cadillac Records, 2011 Sundance Film Festival selected: Restless City, The Tested, & Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns. Also, with thousands of entries submitted to the American Black Film Festival/NBC Universal Star Project - Monologue Competition, Osas was one of the Top 3 National finalist.

Her work as an actress, model, dancer, spokesperson, humanitarian, and Miss Black USA 2010 has taken her throughout the United States and across the globe. As she travels, she continues to promote her passions of Malaria Awareness & The Heart Truth Campaign that raises awareness of heart disease, the leading cause of death for women. Osas values the giving of oneself to others. She believes a purely small token of appreciation towards a few can cause and affect a chain reaction of positivity and growth amongst many.
Trivia

Graduated from Penn State University with a BA in Broadcast Journalism and minor degrees in Theater and Entreprenuership.

She is part of her Nigerian families first American born generation.

Close family and friends nicknamed her 'Iggy'

Received her MFA degree in Acting from the 'Actors Studio Drama School' in NYC.

Was crowned "Miss Black USA 2010" on August 9, 2010 in the Nations Capitol of Washinton, D.C.
