House Wants Edo Girls in Libya, Morocco Rescued

House of Representatives committee on Diaspora, yesterday appealed to  Edo state government to  rescue Nigerian girls, especially those from  Edo State, who are facing various forms of inhuman treatment in Libya and Morocco.
The committee, led by its Chairman, Abike Dabiri-Erewa,  made the appeal while on a courtesy visit to Governor Adams Oshiohmole, adding that majority of the over 10,000 Nigerians girls  trapped in various jails in Morroco are from Edo State.
Dabiri-Erewa said girls between the ages of 13  and 20 years were taken from the country illegally, and were accused as illegal migrants by  authorities of the two North Africa countries.
She said some of the girls are pregnant, while some had already given birth at  various prisons, adding that as a result of the modern day technology, they were able to speak to about two of the girls who said they could not go out because they were being used as  sex mate.
She  urged the state government to  help the girls, because they are the future mothers of the country, adding that the state government should downplay the reasons why they went to Libya and Morroco.
In his response,  Oshiomhole said it doesn’t matter whether the majority of the girls are from Edo State,   the issue of rescuing them is a Federal Government responsibility
